Jefferson County Courts:
Superior Court Judge Keith Harper on November 20, 2020 ordered that the Jefferson County Superior Court suspend all in-person criminal and civil jury trials that were to begin prior to January 25, 2021.
As for speedy trials, all time for trial criminal rules are suspended and the time between the order through January 22, 2021 will be excluded for calculating speedy trial.
All non-jury trials and fact-finding hearings will continue to be conducted, with parties and attorneys choosing to appear in person, by Zoom, or by Courtcall. All felony changes of pleas and sentencing shall be done by personal appearance in Court.
In District Court, court participants may be eligible to appear virtually for criminal cases. All traffic and civil hearings will be on the Zoom platform. Links for court and the phone number for dialing in can be found on the county’s court webpage.
District Court payments may be made in the dropbox found in the courthouse basement entry or call 360-385-9135 to arrange an appointment to drop off your paperwork.
The Treasurer’s Office can accommodate most customer’s needs by mail, phone, email or drop box located at the rear parking lot of the courthouse. To limit the number of people in the office and to ensure service can be provided while maintaining distancing and meeting sanitation standards, the office will allow appointments on a limited basis for business that cannot be conducted by other means between 8:30 – 10:00 am and 2:00-3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Drop in customers will be served as time allows.
