VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR TASK FORCE

AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT TO SERVE ON

A COUNTY REGULATORY REFORM TASK FORCE TO DEVELOP RECCOMENDATIONS ON THE

CRITICAL AREAS ORDINANCE UPDATE

Jefferson County seeks interested individuals and organization representatives who share an interest in regulatory reform and a desire to assist in the update to Jefferson County’s Critical Areas ordinance (CAO), to serve on a local Regulatory Reform Task Force. The Task Force will discuss adopted CAO standards in neighboring jurisdictions, analyze and compare specific topics of those CAO standards with Jefferson County’s, and work with Department of Community Development (DCD) staff to finalize draft revisions to Jefferson County’s Critical Areas Ordinance, before DCD carries out the public adoption process with the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners. It is anticipated the Task Force will meet 1-2 times per month at the County Courthouse, and complete its work by this fall.

We seek a diversity of interests for the Task Force, including at least one member from each commissioner district of Jefferson County, and members representing interests from many areas, including, but not limited to: the agricultural community, environmental advocates, real estate and housing developers, and local civic groups.

Among other contributions, the Task Force will be examining code for five types of critical areas plus agriculture, and make recommendations on how our regulations can protect critical areas in ways that align with County Resolution No. 17-19 which establishes a regulatory reform program for Jefferson County.

To be considered for appointment to the Task Force please fill out and submit a Volunteer Application. Click on this LINK to access the CAO Task Force volunteer application, or you can request an application by calling (360) 385-9100.

Volunteer applications must be received on or before 4:30 p.m. June 7, 2019 in the Jefferson County Administrator’s Office, 1820 Jefferson St., P.O. Box 1220, Port Townsend, WA 98368; or email applications to jeffbocc@co.jefferson.wa.us
