Sexual and Reproductive Health

We offer compassionate, non-judgmental, gender-inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health services to everyone. We are affirming of LGBTQ+ and all other gender- and sexually-diverse folks.

Family Planning and Birth Control

We have all birth control methods (including emergency contraception) to help you plan for or prevent pregnancy and can provide referral for permanent birth control. We support you in finding a method that’s right for you.  – Learn More

STD Testing and Treatment

Whether you have symptoms or want to get screened, we provide confidential evaluation for all sexually transmitted diseases. Our services include: screening, diagnosis, treatment, partner notification, prevention education and PrEP.  – Learn More

Preventive Health and Treatment

We provide preventive healthcare services for people throughout their lives. Preventive services include annual exams, Pap smears, referral for mammograms and screening for breast, cervical, and colon cancer. We also provide evaluation and treatment for health issues including pelvic pain, urinary tract infections (UTIs), yeast infections, and breast issues.

Immunizations

Routine adult and childhood vaccines are available at our Immunization Clinic, as well as tuberculosis testing and travel immunization consultation. - Learn More

Sports Medicine & Physicals

All school districts require a sports physical exam every two years to ensure athletes are healthy and fit to play their sport. We can get athletes in quickly to prevent a delay in starting the sports season. – Learn More

SCHOOL BASED HEALTH CENTERS

Students in East Jefferson County can access confidential and affordable health care services at our three School Based Health Centers (Port Townsend, Chimacum, Quilcene), in addition to the main Jefferson County Public Health Community Clinic. In-person and telehealth appointments are available.

PAYMENT

All insurances accepted; sliding scale for birth control; many are eligible for programs offering low or no cost services.

Family Planning Only (formerly Take Charge) – A special program that covers the cost of birth control. We can easily determine if you qualify and sign you up if you do.

Breast and Cervical Health (BCHP) – A special program that pays for women’s annual exam and mammogram. We can easily determine if you qualify and sign you up if you do.

Susan Bone O’Brien, ARNP, MN

Susan Bone O’Brien, ARNP, MN, is a Family Nurse Practitioner who works at Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) Community Clinics to provide access to care for the community of Jefferson County since 1997. She specializes in reproductive health for all genders and ages, also providing comprehensive health care to adolescents in the School-Based Health Centers in Jefferson County.

Susan holds BSN and Masters in Nursing from the University of Washington and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by American Nursing Credentialing Center.

Susan values an environment where our clients feel safe and respected. She loves her work at the main clinic, with clients of all ages, and feels fortunate to get to work with adolescents in our schools, providing for their health care needs, since 2009. Her goal is to support and promote independence, self-awareness, and healthy relationships. She has two sons, who grew up on the peninsula.

Dr. Melinda Bower is a naturopathic doctor who received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. Dr Bower completed a one year residency at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle WA rotating through community health centers and major regional hospitals.  Prior to medical school she received her BS in Environmental Science from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH.  Dr Bower also teaches herbal medicine and gynecology at Bastyr University.  In 2015, she was recognized by her peers as one of Seattle’s “Top Doctors.”

Dr Bower practices with a focus on family medicine and women’s health. She has special interests in treating  thyroid disorders, women’s health, autoimmune diseases and digestive disorders. She works with people to optimize health while utilizing a variety of tools including nutritional support, botanical medicine, and the foundations of health to achieve health. Dr. Bower’s integrative approach to medicine focuses on addressing the root cause of illness rather than just looking at the symptoms. Through this work, she is dedicated to helping you restore health and well-being in your life.
