Jefferson County Public Works was awarded a Washington State County Road Administration Board, Rural Arterial Program (RAP) grant for improvement of Center Road near Quilcene, Washington. The objective of the RAP program is to correct surface and structural problems on county rural arterial roads.
This project begins at Center Road Milepost 10.34 (near Taison Lane intersection) and continues southerly to Center Road Milepost 14.58 (near the East Quilcene Road intersection). This segment of Center Road was last paved 25 years ago and the surface is badly cracking. Repaving this road segment now will restore the road surface before the road deteriorates to a point that reduces safety and to where significantly more expensive repairs would be required.
This project includes installation of a concrete inlet and slope drain at one location, repair of asphalt shoulder areas, planing of the existing asphalt vehicle lanes, asphalt paving, and striping. The total project cost estimate is $1,830,980. This project is scheduled for bidding and construction in 2024.
