On July 8, 2019, Jefferson County Public Works completed the South Discovery Road Pavement Preservation project. The 1.39 mile project took place between mileposts 3.180 and 4.576; roughly from the S.Discovery Road/Cape George Road intersection to the S. Discovery Road/Milo Curry Road intersection.

Work included minor shoulder widening in two areas, asphalt paving of the roadway and shoulders, gravel shoulder edge finishing, concrete traffic barriers, pavement striping, and other work. The result is a rehabilitated asphalt roadway surface, and improved ride quality and safety.

Lakeside Industries, Inc. of Port Angeles, WA was the prime contractor for the $456,168 construction contract. A Rural Arterial Program (RAP) grant from the County Roads Administration Board (CRAB) provided 90% of the funding for the project.
