How to File:

Online: Available Monday, May 14, 9:00 a.m. through Friday, May 18, 4:00 p.m. Visa / Master Card accepted for filing fee.               Click here to file online, online candidate filing only available during the times listed above.

In Person: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during filing week in the Auditor's office located at 1820 Jefferson St, Port Townsend.   

By Mail: Jefferson County Elections, PO Box 563, Port Townsend WA 98368. The first day we can accept a Declaration of Candidacy by mail is April 30th. The last day we can accept it is by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 18. The Declaration of Candidacy, and filing fee if applicable, must be in our office by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 18.

Fax 360.385.9228 or Email Beginning Monday, May 14, 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 18. If a filing fee is required, the Declaration of Candidacy will not be processed until the fee has been received. The fee must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 18.

A Lot Draw to determine candidate placement on the ballot will be done Monday, May 21, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Auditor's Office. Candidates and media are invited to observe the process.

Partisan Office Candidates:

Appear on the Primary Election ballot no matter how many candidates file for the same office. The top-2 candidates will be on the General Election ballot.

Non-Partisan Office Candidates (PUD & Judicial):

Appear on the Primary Election ballot only if 3 or more  candidates file for the same office. Only voters in District 3 may vote at the Primary Election. The top-2 candidates will be on the General Election ballot. Voters in the entire district vote at the General Election to elect the commissioner.

PCO Candidates:  

Precinct Committee Offices (PCO) are not listed under "Offices Open for Filing". They are listed separately on the "For Candidates" page. Positions for ALL precincts for both parties (Rep. & Dem.) are open for filing. There is NO filing fee. Dates, times and how to file listed above apply to filing for PCO. PCO's are elected in the Primary election. Only contested PCO races will appear on the Primary ballot and the candidate with the most votes is elected. Contested PCO candidates will appear in the on-line voters' guide.
