Building Permit Information & Forms

Building permit applications undergo consistency review to ensure compliance with the UDC, Comprehensive Plan, and State and Federal laws.  Some building permits involve associated land use applications, such as a Conditional Use Permit, Variance, or Shoreline Substantial Development Permit.  The Master Permit Application form is the standard building permit application.  Supplemental information may be required.  Refer to the list of forms linked to each building permit type below and check with a Permit Technician.

For information on the land use permit review process and types of land use permits, visit the Development Review Division page.  For land use permit fees, information sheets, and application forms, visit the Permit Information & Application Forms page.

*Fees are due at time of application. Consult with a Permit Technician for information on building permit fees.  A land use permit fee schedule summary is available on-line as noted above.

**Two sets of plans are required at time of application except for Propane Tank / Stove / Fireplace permits.

Inspections

To call in a building inspection, use the Jefferson County Building Inspection Hotline: 379-4455.  An inspection request may be left 24 hours a day.  Inspection requests must be received by 3:00 PM at the latest on the day before the inspection is needed.

Please speak clearly and answer all six of these questions:

  • What is the owner's name?
  • What is the site address?
  • What is the building permit number             (e.g., BLD02-0001)?
  • For what type of inspection is the request?
  • For what preferred day is the request?
  • What is a phone number where the person making the request can be reached during the day?

If the request is for more than one inspection, please be sure to answer the questions completely for each separate request.
