Board Takes Action to Locally Approve SMP

The Board of County Commissioners took formal action by resolution on December 7, 2009 to locally approve the SMP for submittal to the WA Dept. of Ecology for the final review and adoption process.  The provisions of the Locally Approved SMP don't take effect until final adoption by the state and the Board, currently anticipated for no sooner than Spring 2010.  The following documents are available below for review and download:

DRAFT Locally Approved SMP & Project Timeline

After the Board's thorough and detailed review of the Planning Commission proposal, they directed staff to make numerous revisions.  The extra time spent in deliberations led the Board to consider requesting another WA Dept. of Ecology grant contract timeline extension to December 31.  A revised schedule will be available once approved.  A revised schedule was approved by the Board on 10/26/09, who also directed staff to complete the final edits requested, prepare a resolution for local approval, and send a letter to Ecology requesting the timeline extension.

The 10-22-09 DRAFT Locally Approved SMP document was provided to the Board for final review before taking action by resolution.  Local approval by the Board indicates they are ready to adopt the SMP by ordinance upon Ecology's approval.
