The Jefferson County Comprehensive Plan is a decision-making tool for officials and citizens in guiding future growth and development in Jefferson County on a 20-year planning horizon.  It provides the community vision, goals and policy basis for the regulatory requirements of the Jefferson County Code, including Title 18 the Unified Development Code, as well as capital facilities improvements, and other County endeavors.

Participate in our Periodic Update of 2018

 

As required by the state Growth Management Act (RCW 36.70A), the County is beginning a Periodic Update to the Comp Plan and its implementing regulations.   The current deadline is now 2018 after state Legislature twice revised the statutory timeline for all jurisdictions due to budget constraints.  Jefferson County's deadline was first extended to 2014, then to 2016, and again to 2018.

 

You can participate by:

Attending Planning Commission meetings, typically held the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Tri-Area Community Center in Chimacum.

Submitting a survey conveying the issues that affect you/your area.

Comprehensive Plan Amendments

The Growth Management Act (GMA) provides for an annual amendment cycle for comprehensive plans (with some exceptions where amendments could be considered outside of the annual cycle).  Citizens or interest groups may propose site-specific or suggested amendments to the Comprehensive Plan for review during the annual amendment cycle. 

For information concerning the process for amending the Comprehensive Plan, as well as links to year-specific information, visit the Comprehensive Plan & UDC Amendments page.

The following ordinances effectively amended the Comprehensive Plan, as initially adopted on August 28, 1998.  The amendments are incorporated into the sections and chapters in the Comprehensive Plan.
