Phyllis Becker has volunteered with the shelter on a regular basis for nearly two years.  Her service began with simply cleaning cat cages one morning a week and working on the severely neglected planted areas in front of the shelter.  That led to routine maintenance of the garden and, along with her husband Paul, participating in our Farmer's Market adoption events.

Phyllis also makes our cat adoption flyers to post at the local veterinary clinics every two weeks and transports the shelter cats to spay/neuter and other appointments.

"Spay/neuter is my passion", says Phyllis.  "Cat and dog overpopulation, which leads to crowded shelters, is entirely preventable and I will continue to do all I can to address this issue."

Phyllis is also on the board of Olympic Mountain Pet Pals, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding spay/neuter programs for low-income people's pet cats, dogs, and feral cats.  She coordinates Pet Pals' feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return program which has drastically reduced the number of feral cats brought to the shelter.
