If you have the time, we have the place!  There are always things going on here at JCAS and we're always seeking volunteers to help.  Please read through the volunteer needs  below.  Stop by the shelter to pick up and fill out a volunteer application.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age with parental or guardian consent.  The only exception is for children whose parent is a volunteer and supervises the child at all times.

Volunteer Needs

  • Exercising and socializing animals: Get some exercise and help a dog at the same time!  Our dogs need a break from their cages to stay happy and healthy and to get some fresh air.
  • Cleaning and grooming
  • Assisting with posting animal information on Petfinder.com
  • Assisting and counseling prospective adopters
  • Educational outreach/Farmers market/
    County Fair
  • Foster underage puppies and kittens until they are big and healthy enough to spay/neuter and place for adoption.

Volunteer of the Year

Olympic Mountain Pet Pals (OMPP) is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to reducing animal homelessness through their spay/neuter program for low-income residents' pet cats and dogs and through their TNR program for feral cats.  OMPP also has a Pets to People program and a READ program.  Check out OMPP's website for more information.

We can only provide veterinary services to animals that belong to JCAS or animals that are impounded.  All vaccinations, surgical procedures, emergency veterinary work and microchips need to be done through your family veterinarian.
